HAPPY CHRISTMAS - 12.24.08
Yeah, you heard me. Happy Christmas. No more merry for this holiday. I mean really, where does Christmas think it's okay to be merry, whilst all the other holidays are just plain happy. While I'm at it, I think I'm going to start spelling meter as metre, color as colour and theater as theatre. Silly Brits.
MY U.S. CONSTITUTION - 12.17.08
![]() |
I've always thought the U.S. Constitution was the greatest thing any government has ever made. But then I got thinking... What if it was even greater??! So now my (slightly) edited version is avaliable for reading. You can find it here. Enjoy! |
MY ELECTION EDITORIALS - 11.28.08
During the 2008 presidential race, I wrote two editorials concerning Barack Obama and his fight for the White House, in the newspaper, The 45th Parallel. These two, entitled, "State of the Election I" and "State of the Election II," as well as a third (soon-to-be published) companion piece "In the Wake of Obama," I'm now making avaliable for all to read. They can be found here.
THANKS? - 11.26.08
BOND, JAMES BOND - 11.16.08
James Bond is back! Though not as elegant in this sequel, I'd say it was in excellent companion piece to Casino Royale. I like Daniel Craig as Bond, too. |
WOW - 11.04.08
Yeah America! We did it! And thank God, 'cause Canada really doesn't appeal to me all that much.
NEW OBAMA AD - 10.17.08
So I really like this new Obama-Biden ad about tax cuts. It's the only "straight talk" I've heard in a bit. I tell you, when Obama opted out of government money I was glad, but still a little nervous. Now with Obama outadvertising McCain four to one nationwide, it looks like my worry was for not! |
MY DEBATE MODERATORS - 09.16.08
I've compiled my list of the top presidential debate moderators. It can be found here.
PR - 09.15.08
For all of my avid fans out there, you might me interested in knowing that I set my personal record for my 5000 metres today. Just thought I'd share.
MY "RECKONER" - 09.27.08
So I downloaded the remixable copy of Radiohead's "Reckoner" the other day, and after working with my own limited skills, this is what I produced. Hope you enjoy... and vote! Also, sorry for the some-what poor audio quality. The original copy I produced was much higher, but watered-down by Radiohead's clumsy Web site. |
NO GO, ON BILL(S) - 09.22.08
I've now read the first draft of the $700 billion U.S. bailout bill, and after much thought and consideration, I've decided that it's cons outweigh pros (in it's current form that is), and I cannot endorse it. I think everyone should read it (afterall, it's your money), and make their own decision. A copy can be found here.
THERE'S GONNA BE A REVOLUTION - 09.20.08
Made this pic up really fast. Love the Beatles, love Obama, what could be better? There's a copy in Odds & Ends, in case anyone wants a high-def version. |
HATE HER - 09.15.08
![]() |
Just a quick little pic I whipped up and added to the Odds & Ends photo album. Hope you enjoy. I think the lighting really does justice to her eyes, don't you? |
YEAH APPLE - 09.09.08
Today Steve Jobs and his wonderful band of computer nerds remastered every iPod on the market, plus they introduced iTunes 8. Oh, great day.
MORE TOP 5's - 09.07.08
I've made several new Top 5's in the Lists feature. They include Top 5 DNC Speeches, Top 5 Politicians, Worst 5 Politicians, and Top 5 Senators. Go check 'em out!
DNC AND RNC - 08.29.08
I've enjoyed many an Obama speech, but this I think, tops them all. Please enjoy. On another note, McCain choose Palin. What the hell does this guy do in his spare time? Dream up ways to lose more? What a sad old... incredibly old guy. |
WELCOME, NEW FEATURE - 08.10.08
Today I'm launching a new feature, Lists. Lists was developed for the express purpose of capitalizing on the immense popularity of Oregon College Prices™. Right now we have two assets, but if you visit the feature, you'll see that there are several more on the way. It's also very important to me that if you'd like to comment on any of the lists, you just contact me.
Also, I'd like to address Forward Slash Records, a record label I announced on the temporary blog. This is still on it's way, but has been temporarily postponed.
Thanks!
...AND WE'RE BACK! - 08.09.08
Hey, everyone, I'm home. Just in time to see Michael Phelps win his first gold of the year. Notice I'm sporting the 'GO TEAM USA' seal.
Now, to business. You may have noticed a slight change in the features of the Site. First off, I've retired several assets of the Projects feature. The home page (as you're noticing right now) is now the Blog feature. The features, HarryTV and Mini-Page, have been absorbed by the Projects feature. Which means the following: Mini-Page has been tested and has been determined to not be not as popular as it once was, and therefore, no longer deserves it's stature. HarryTV, though moderately popular, is no-longer cost effective. I'm also choosing to take a different route with HGBSTUDIOS, which includes less entertainment. These two features are still available, but are now part of Projects. It should be noted that production of HarryTV is being semi-permentatly suspended.
Two new features have been added, Photos and Me. These features represent two of my favorite features on Facebook and MySpace. It's part of a growing effort to become less commercial, and more personal. You know, live up to the name HarryBlakeman.com.
Well that's it. Hope you enjoy!
A MOMEMTARY LAPSE OF GOOGLE - 06.14.08
Dear pleasent reader of Harry's blog, I regret to inform you of a slight Web address change. Due to needed summer travels, I will be unable to blog from this address. From now on (until I otherwise tell you) my blog will be readable at:
Simply click on the address to go. I'm sorry for the simple design and the Google crap, but that's the way it has to be for a time. Please enjoy it just as much!
WWDC '08 - 06.09.08

'21' - 04.20.08
| Today I went to see 21, the new blackjack movie. I must say I enjoyed it. I also like the fact that it's based on a true story. |
'45TH PARALLEL' ONLINE - 04.12.08
I am honored to announce that my school newspaper, The 45th Parallel, is to host it's online edition here, on HarryBlakeman.com. I am currently the online editor, and am working on it as we speak. It's still in beta so don't judge it too harshly. Feel free to email me and tell me what you think.
'VANTAGE POINT' - 03.28.08
| I went to see Vantage Point today. I enjoyed it very much. It's an exciting and interesting look at terrorism and U.S. policy. Of course it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be a simple thriller, but if you look closer your imagination can conjure up some interesting ideas. Did I really see Sen. Obama? Maybe it was a double? Now that's a thought that's gonna fester. |
OBAMA AT MAC COURT - 03.22.08
I went to see Senator Barack Obama yesterday in Eugene, Oregon. He spoke at University of Oregon's McArthur Court (Mac Court) to a crowd of nearly 10,000. Mac Court only seats about 9,000, but cramming another 1,000 people didn't really matter. There were still about 2,000 people waiting in line (don't get me started about how long that line was) who didn't get in. Because I'd only been waiting in line two-and-a-half hours, I was one of those 2,000. Luckily for me, his assistants ushered us into U of O's soccer field. There the Senator briefly spoke and shook hands. I'd like to inform you all at this time that I got within one foot of his greatness. It was probably the highlight of my life. They also were nice enough to put up speakers so we could hear inside Mac Court. Mr. Obama, the first real 21st Century politician will reunite this nation. I'm pumped.
I also got to see Secret Service!
OBAMA'S SPEECH - 03.18.08
| This is a truly remarkable speech. If you have time, watch the whole thing. Obama '08! |
'ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT' - 03.13.08
I just thought I'd share with you all that I have just finished watching all 53 episodes of Arrested Development. Cool huh?
HARRY FOR '11 - 03.07.08
Yesterday, as some of you know, I launched my campaign for the presidency of the class of 2011. A few months early, yes, but I think it's very important to get the message out there. Cameron Haun, my officially endorsed running-mate is also stoked for this election. We will soon announce who we're endorsing for the last remaining position, secretary/treasurer. Find out more at: harryblakeman.com/2011.
iPOD SHUFFLE - 02.29.08
Today I recieved my new iPod shuffle. It is my 5th iPod. Currently I'm also using an iPod classic. I must say that really are fun, and easy to use. Good, good.
INDY'S TRAILER - 02.14.08
| The latest installment of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas' saga, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull priemered it's trailer today. Should be fun. Happy Valentine's Day! |
THE DARJEELING LIMITED - 02.10.08
| Finally!!! My local movie theater finally got Wes Anderson's lastest masterpiece: The Darjeeling Limited. I've been waiting for this to come here for months now, and was about to buy it on DVD next week. Like all of Anderson's other work, it was beautiful, funny and relevant. Go see it. |
HULU.COM - 01.26.08
I just became a beta-tester on Hulu and I must say, YouTube now has some legitimate compitation. Just about any FOX or NBC show is avaliable. It's nice.
SEMESTER ONE - 01.25.08
Just thought I'd tell you that I'm halfway done with being a freshmen.
iTUNES MOVIE RENTALS - 01.21.08
Decided to try out iTunes' new rental service, yesterday. It's a tad costly (new releases are $3.99) and a tad restrictive (you have it for 30 days, once you start watching though, you only have 24 hours.) Besides these slight problems, I think it equals big money for Apple.
TRAVBUDDY - 01.16.08
| Just checked out this site. You should too. (I've also been to Utah and Washington, but forgot to include them.) |
MACWORLD 2008 - 01.15.08
| "The world's thinnest notebook." Yes, today was Macworld. Christmas for Mac addicts. Like me. We now have the MacBook Air, iTunes Movie Rentals, Time Capsule, iPhone and iPod touch software updates, and an awesome Apple TV software update. Life is sweet. Thank you, Mr. Jobs. |
'JUNO' - 01.11.08
| Juno. This one took a long time to see, but it was worth it. I enjoyed it very much, and would recommend it to most anyone. The soundtrack was awesome too. |
AH, 2008 - 01.01.08
| Well here it is. A new year. I hope we don't crap it up. Happy 2008! |
